Leeds Safeguarding Children Partnership (LSCP) is seeking to appoint a new Independent Chair, who will take on a key leadership role in one of the most dynamic and diverse cities in England.

The Leeds Safeguarding Children Partnership is well established, with good partnership relationships built on a restorative culture of ‘high support, high challenge’.  It has a clear sense of its role and responsibilities and a determination to focus on improving outcomes for children and young people, using an outcome-based accountability approach.

Our new Independent Chair will provide strong strategic leadership to ensure that local multi agency safeguarding arrangements operate effectively, as well as provide assurance and scrutiny that all relevant organisations and agencies co-operate to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people in Leeds.

This is a unique opportunity for the new Chair to build on our strong foundations and drive forward the new multi-agency safeguarding arrangements in line with the requirements in Working Together 2018.  We are seeking someone to help extend and further develop our effective strategic partnership working to ensure that children and young people in Leeds continue to receive the right high-quality services at the right time. You will support and challenge the partnership to put the voice and influence of Children and Young People at the heart of its ambition to be a Child Friendly City.

Applicants will require excellent leadership and decision-making skills and substantial experience within the safeguarding arena. You will have experience and skills in chairing large, complex multi-agency meetings at a senior strategic level, excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to enthuse and challenge partners in Leeds to ensure effective safeguarding arrangements are in place.

The LSCP Independent Chair is accountable to the Chief Executive of Leeds City Council. Salary will be £650 per day, including travel and expenses, up to a maximum of 40-50 days per year. The appointment will be for a maximum of 4 years, subject to review on an annual basis.
